About Me

A little about me

I am a UKCP accredited, qualified and experienced psychotherapist, counsellor and nutritionist.  I have lived and worked abroad in many diverse cultures and understand the challenges of living in another country and finding a place in another culture.  As a result of working in warzones and famines as a nutritionist with displaced and traumatised populations, my particular area of interest has been working with trauma in both adults and children. The cause of trauma may be overt like war trauma or historical childhood memories; remembered or forgotten; one time events or repeated but whatever the cause, frequency or duration I now know there is help for what can otherwise be devastating.  I have always been driven by a passion to heal wounding of whatever type. Working with my own wounds was one of my greatest sources of learning as has each person I share a healing journey with.  I am a great believer in a holistic approach which is what led me to study first nutrition and then counselling and psychotherapy. It is an inescapable fact that the two are linked and that what impacts one will impact the other.  I also greatly value energetic work with the body, an interest which preceeded the last two. This led me to study and qualify as an EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique) practitioner.  EFT is like acupuncture without needles and works on your energy system, which like mind and body are connected. It is fantastic for working on all sorts of fears, phobias, self-limiting beliefs and is also an effective tool for working with trauma, completely minimising any risk of re-traumatising someone.  I am also a Reiki practitioner. My spiritual journeying over the last 20 years has led me to many different meditation and mindfulness practices which are I find helpful for my work and are something else I can offer to you. I love nature and beauty, travel and languages and I adore dancing!

I also have a beautiful and friendly dog called Jack who usually sits in on the sessions (very helpfully). If you don't like dogs, no problem, ,I can make other arrangements for him. If you do - then enjoy.
